All About Tea

Tea – An Elixir to Creative Minds

Tea and Its benefits have always been a part of our lives since time immemorial. Our ancestors have been drinking tea, considering it a special ceremony of the day and have passed on this tradition to their future generations. The invention of tea by a Chinese Emperor Shennong was just a matter of chance, as the tea leaves accidentally fell into the boiling water and created a drink with an unforgettable aroma. All this did not stop right here, an ample amount of creativity was applied to it and people started consuming tea in many different forms. Be it warm, ice cold, with or without sweeteners, people always prefer tea in their own innovative manner. This clearly portrays that making tea in different forms added on to the creative part of mankind. We cannot really answer the question that was it tea that made man creative or it were the creative men who found out a number of ways to consume tea.

The involvement of tea can be seen in the work of many great artists. If we start talking about painters, tea cups have been a part of many famous paintings of the Victorian Age like that of Edward Alfred Cucuel and George Dunlop Ceslie. Also, novelists like Jane Austen or say, Charles Dickens have involved a number of incidents in their books that revolve around tea. Many important issues are discussed and resolved over a cup of tea. The same goes for film makers, painters, singers and all the other artists. An Indian movie cannot be regarded as complete if there is no scene of people drinking tea, either in their houses or on the roadside. No matter what kind of creativity, tea somehow revolves around it. It tends to go hand in hand with art.

Studies suggest that tea has always been enhancing our creative skills. The effects can be felt within minutes of finishing the beverage and the ideas that people generate after a cup of tea are always better than those that they give after having any other beverage including water. It is believed that the right amount of caffeine and L- theanine tend to decrease mental fatigue and give rise to greater ideas. It increases concentration power and works as a medicine to the creative mind.

Let’s see How Tea Helps Creative Minds to Think Unconventionally

  • Restart with a cup of tea

Not being able to come up with new ideas is something every creative person has to go through. If you’re a writer then the need to break the monotony and coming up with refreshing new ideas is a necessity. In that situation treating yourself with a cup of tea is not a bad idea after which you can start thinking again and come up with more innovative ideas.

  • Ideas turned down

It’s always easy to praise a work of art but difficult to create one. There is a series of rework and rejection that people face before something good comes up. We all know that handling rejection blues is not an easy thing to do, yet we cannot avoid them. If we see the criterion of film making, one basic idea is all it takes. However, coming up with that one single good idea is not something that can be done within a fraction of seconds. It takes a lot of patience and brainstorming before the final acceptance. To be able to do this one needs to stay motivated. Trying some freshly flavoured tea can definitely uplift your mood and magnify the talents that you already have.

  • Enhancing your skills

Artistic skills can always be enhanced, all we need to do is practice. Imagine learning the art of playing a musical instrument. From stage one of learning till the last stage, your skills are amplified a great deal. However, in the process of learning something new, our daily schedule might get a little disrupted and learning that one new skill might become a tedious task. On that account, maintaining a balance between the two is mandatory. When it comes to maintaining a balance, proper sleep is the most important aspect. There’s nothing better than a good sleep to make up your mind for a long day of hard work. It has been scientifically proven that people who drink tea before sleeping tend to sleep more peacefully. Similarly, waking up early has a lot to do with the kind of beverage you drink. Black tea if chosen as the first thing to drink in the morning can help you enhance alertness and lemon tea can also help you serve the purpose by making your mood as bright as the morning sunlight.

  • Avoiding Nervousness:

An idea badly presented is often termed as a bad idea. If you’re a part of creative world, be it writing, painting, designing or anything of that sort, presenting your work in front of other people is always going to make you nervous. The fear of bad reviews will make it difficult for you to overcome that nervousness. It’s time for another cup of tea. It will provide you will all the calm that you need at the moment.

  • Companion to work:

Our day breaks are always marked by the presence of tea in it. Spending a lot of time thinking about ideas makes our mind tired but all we need to do is keep working. Tea can definitely serve as the best companion in such cases. A cup of tea can be a very good idea when it comes to increasing concentration and innovative power.
Time to celebrate: After you have come across all the hurdles and your creative mind has helped you earn something good, be it an amazing idea for a book or a learning entirely new artistic skills, it’s time to celebrate! What’s a better celebration than combining all your cup of tea with your favorite snacks.

So we can clearly see how tea is and has always been a part of creative men’s life and can hardly be criticized by anyone. It is the only drink that is capable of being able to reach up to your emotions and simultaneously make your body and mind feel better.
“Tea, though ridiculed by those who are naturally coarse in their nervous sensibilities, will always be the favourite beverage of the intellectual.” Says Thomas De Quincey
