Why Tea is the Best Choice When it Comes to a Healthy Drink?

With changing times our need to stay healthy has increased a great deal. If we go back in time, people used to work very hard for a healthy living. There was more of physical labour and less comforts in the name of luxury. From walking long distances to doing a lot of physical work, people did all sorts of things and that helped them to stay healthy. However, in the last few decades, our lives have become so luxurious that we hardly believe in troubling our body. We no longer walk miles to meet our friends. All we do is take a seat on our vehicle and cover the long distance. The role of cool breeze and good weather has now been replaced by our comforting air conditioners and the list of such luxuries is never ending.

If we give a deep thought to this scenario, it’s an unquestionable fact that there is a dire need for us to do something for our bodies.

When we talk about staying fit, the first thing that comes to our mind is the need for physical exercise. It’s true that even though we have all sorts of comforts in the form of luxury, staying fit has not gone out of fashion. There are many people who enjoy all the luxuries of life, yet, believe in staying fit. Going for a jog early in the morning to a good exercise at the gym, is still a priority for many. However, just simple exercising might not be enough for us to stay healthy. It mostly has to be accompanied by a health drink.

The question here is, what sort of healthy drink is required by our body?

Something that keeps us energetic? Something that rids our body of anti-oxidants or something that helps us to kick away lethargy?

This does not end here, the next question that might come to our mind can be – Is it an easy task to find all this in just one drink? And even if you do, it is definitely not going to be a home remedy. You will definitely have to spare some money out of your savings to make it a part of your diet.
What if we tell you that there’s something in your kitchen that can cut down this extra expenditure?

It’s The Age Old Tea.

It’s no secret that tea has been loved since time immemorial not just because of its taste but also its benefits. To make things a little more clear, let’s see what this award winning athlete Tom Whittle has to say about consuming health drinks or something that contains too much caffeine.

He says, “The high sugar and high caffeine was great for the first hour but then I’d get a huge slump and need another,” “This was not only expensive but also bad for my body in long-term.”
On realizing this, he decided to replace it with tea and again quoted, “If we closely observe, it has everything that a sports person might need to stay healthy.”

We guess you’d be curious to know why this great athlete said so!

Read on to know what tea can do to your workout sessions and put an end to your curiosity.

You might not be aware of the fact that, tea contains certain flavonoids, such as epigallocatechin gallate. This compound has powerful antioxidant, restorative, and anti-inflammatory properties. The adequate amount of caffeine present in it boosts the process of fat oxidation, allowing you to tap into the energy stored in fat tissue. This becomes highly important during extended training sessions, since most of the readily available glycogen gets used up after about 45 minutes of back breaking exercise. The other benefit of having small amounts of caffeine in your bloodstream while training is that it can substantially improve perception and help you fight fatigue. It is also termed as a ‘super drink’ by some scientists because it is a unique source of naturally combined L-theanine and caffeine. L-theanine is an amino acid that promotes mental sharpness.

Did you Know That Tea is Very Easy to Make?

All you need to do is put tea leaves in cold water, a night before your sports training and leave them steeping in the fridge all night. Your cold brew will be ready by morning time. You can always add some ice to it to have a better flavour.

To make tea the classical way, you need to brew about 6 grams of tea leaves at 85ºC for 60-90 seconds and it is good to go. With the classical hot brewing approach, it is very important not to soak leaves too long, or the tea may turn bitter.

These are just some of the performance-enhancing benefits of tea. However, it can also do wonders, not just for those who believe in exercising to stay fit, but also for the ones who look for easier ways to stay fit. To feel the difference, all you need to do is, make it a part of your diet.
