I sometimes wonder how my life would be if each day did not begin with a warm cup of tea being sipped while making plans for the day. There are many special memories attached to tea. I have been fond of tea ever since I tasted it. You could say it was love at first sip! The aroma, the taste instantly mesmerised my taste buds and I don’t think I have ever let go of it since then. I will not be surprised if you too have a similar love affair story with tea when you tried it for the first time. Some habits (and I will assert this one as a good one) form a part of your life in an instant, don’t they?
My mother makes the most delicious tea in the world, and no one compares with her perfectly made tea. As I grew up, I explored various kinds of teas – like green tea, masala tea, tapri chai, oolong tea, white tea, etc. As a keen tea lover, I have made my best efforts to explore every kind of tea that I can. I would definitely like to share some of the best teas I have had and would love to know how you feel when you try it.
SIMPLE CHAI
Now this one is quick to make and tastes the best! To make a good one cup of tea, boil one cup of water till it becomes 3/4th cup. Simultaneously, bring 1/4th cup of milk to a boil. Now, once the water is boiled, add black dust tea or tea leaves and sugar as per your preference. Cover the water with a lid for about 30 seconds. Now add the hot milk to it and serve. This tea is simplest and tastes best when had with biscuits.
CLASSIC INDIAN ADRAK CHAI:-
Every Indian mother’s secret to her family’s heart is her daily morning special Adrak Chai. It never fails to impress any guest and is always refreshingly tasty. To make a delicious cup of tea, take 1 cup of water and add half tea spoon of sugar along with ½ an inch grated ginger. As per your taste preference, add or lessen the sugar and ginger quantity. Let the water simmer for around 4 minutes until the colour of water turns mild yellowish hue. Now add tea leaves to the water and cover it. Next, add 1/4th cup of milk. If you’re adding cold milk, let the tea simmer for a minute more. Now, strain your most delicious cup of tea. This tea tastes the best with Indian snacks like hot Pakoras.
MASALA CHAI:-
Masala chai can be made in various ways to suit one’s liking. The most important part of this chai is the masala. Grinding cloves, cardamom and cinnamon together in a mixer will make strong masala for the chai. There are other ingredients one can add to the masala and get desired flavour. To make two cups of delicious masala teas, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add ½ an inch ginger, half tea spoon of grinded masala and ½ tea spoon sugar to taste. Now add half a cup of milk to the concoction and let it boil for around 3 minutes. Strain it and serve. This tea can be had with or without milk. So have it however you feel like having it. If you’re suffering from cough and cold, this tea works as a medicine.
CARDAMOM TEA:-
This is one of the most favourite chai amongst all tapir visitors. The flavour and aroma that cardamom adds to the tea is what every chai lover dies for. To make two cups of cardamom tea, boil around 2 cups of water. When the water comes to boil, add sugar, tea and two cardamom pods. Let it boil for around two more minutes and add half a cup of milk. Now cover the tea for around thirty to forty five seconds. Strain and enjoy this most aromatic tea.
GREEN TEA:-
Choose the best of green teas available and you will have your best friend in improving your health, losing weight and detoxifying your body. It is good to make green tea in a teapot. Add your tea leaves to water and let it boil. Once it is boiled enough, strain the tea. If you’ve chosen a sachet green tea, you can add the sachet a little while after the water is boiled. The best part of green tea is it goes well with whatever you add to it. You can add sugar, ginger, mint leaves, lemon or spices to add flavours to your green tea.
LEMONGRASS, TULSI AND MINT LEAVES TEA:-
This is one of the simplest and most delicious teas with maximum health benefits. The healing ingredients – lemon grass, tulsi and mint leaves not only strengthen your immunity but also give a distinct taste and aroma to the chai. You can choose to make this tea with or without milk. To make a cup of tea, add freshly cut lemon grass, minced tulsi and mint leaves to the water and bring it to a boil. Add sugar or honey as per your preference. Once it is boiled, you can add a tea spoon of tea leaves to the water. Let it warm for a minute or two. You can add milk at this point (if you’re choosing to add) Strain it and serve yourself a healthy start to the day!
MATE TEA:-
Mate tea is considered the coffee lover’s favourite tea as it tastes like coffee. Mate is a wild shrub from Argentina that makes for a delicious, flavourful tea. Often consumed in a gourd with a filtered straw and shared among friends, these herbal teas are full of bold flavours. To make this tea is quite simple. Pour some yerba mate tea into your cup. Now pour some warm water to yerba mate. Relax for about 30 seconds as the yerba mate awakens. Now, strain this concoction and add some hot water to it and enjoy your hot cuppa Mate tea.
BLOOMING TEA:-
This tea is also called artisan or flowering teas. These teas actually `bloom’ as they steep. They are hand tied by tea artists and often include some type of flavour or scent along with the beautiful design. These romantic teas also make for a great gift as they look beautiful. To make this tea is a pleasant experience to watch. Place one blooming tea ball in a clear, medium to large sized glass teapot. Pour hot water to the tea and watch it for three to five minutes as it unravels from a tiny ball to a blooming flower. After 5 minutes, stir the water and serve the tea.
